One of my friends posted this video on facebook yesterday and it really hit home with me. I get so caught up in my own day to day. Working in customer service, I am constantly dealing with people who want me to move heaven and earth to accommodate their needs. It definitely gets frustrating and sometimes all I want at the end of the day is to be left alone. This leads me to spending more time at home, than going out and hanging with my friends. I already spent all day listening to other peoples problems that I no longer want to listen to anyone. I do try to be understanding of what other people are going through and this video helped remind me that I need to make a more conscious effort to continue to do so. I hope you will take a minute to watch and let it inspire you as well!

Baby Shower Gift
I was on pinterest the other day looking for something unique to get my cousin for her baby shower (her first child!) When I saw this and fell in LOVE!

It's so cute and useful; when most people today are renting rather than owning a home. Now you can track your child's growth and take it with you where ever go! However, I did not love the $75 price tag. I'm pretty crafty so I figured I could make something similar.
This is what I ended up with:

Reading Rainbow

I just finished reading Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell; and I LOVED it! It was very well written and I really connected with the characters. I loved Eleanor! Rainbow showed that a character doesn't have to be a perfect size two just for someone to fall in love with her; nor is Park the typical love interest as well. I think both Eleanor and Park represented different aspects of the high school experience that we don't read about to often. They are both just trying to survive high school and life; then they find each other along the way. The nerd in me thought it was brillant that they connected through music and comic books. As a child of the 80s I really appreciated the musical and cultural references; I could hear the soundtrack in my head. I can't wait to read more of her writing! As I was reading Eleanor & Park, I made sure to pick up Attachements through abebooks.com (which is one of my favorite sites to get used books) and so far I am loving it!

An Easy Read
I just finished No Easy Day by Mark Owen; and while it's not my usual read of Chick Lit or English Lit, I found it a very easy read and was really drawn into the story. As the cover states it is a first hand account of the mission that killed Osama Bin Laden, however I think the part I was most drawn into was recounting of his career and personal relationships as part of one of the most (if not the most) elite military groups. The dedication and commitment that this group of men have to not only each other but also to their job is truly inspiring. However, much he says that they are ordinary I really do think it takes a unique individual to strive everyday to give everything and never give into your own self doubts. With this book I think he achieved his goal of inspiring a new generation of Navy SEALS.
PS...a portion of the profits from the sale of the book go to charity.

Return
I super suck at keeping this blog updated, or really just getting it started to being with. In reality though I have been super busy I've now been at my job a year, in November, and I have started working full time recently. Really missing working part time and every weekend being a three day weekend but more money is good! Plus, I decided to go back to school and hopefully get my BA sometime within the next two years. So, now between working full time, school and finding time to hang out it seems like I am always doing something. (Which you would think would mean more interesting stuff to blog about but....not really.) I haven't really found that thing that makes the post flow or maybe it's not suppose to be easy. But, until then enjoy my sporadic blogging.

Photo Challenge. Words.
I have always been a lover of words, whether they be quotes, books or lyrics. Recently I have started a collection of sorts a book to write down passages, quotes and such that inspire or touch something within me.

Photo Challenge. View.
I am grateful everyday that I'm not stuck in some cubicle all day. I can at least see the day pass through the window at work and see the loveliness of nature.
